Sile Sibanda was born in Zimbabwe, though grew up in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, where she developed a deep connection with the local community. Growing up in a multicultural environment has given her a unique perspective to her role as a presenter enabling her connect with listeners from various backgrounds. She is passionate about music, culture, and social justice, which is reflected in the content she creates and the topics she covers on her show.
I was thrilled to have some time with Sile Sibanda as her guest on BBC Radio Sheffield & Yorkshire.
Interview
My interview with Sile Sibanda was to be my first radio interview to discuss matters relating to my book, Once Bad Intentions. Unsure how to prepare, I covered the basis I thought would be relevant in preparation:
- Understand my interviewer, research her background and profile
- Understand my interviewer’s content, listen to various interviews over the last year to learn her topics of interest, interviewing style and tone.
- Prepare my content, the key messages I want to communicate about my book and me.
Below is an introduction to Sibanda’s vibrant introduction to me, an example of the energy she exudes. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a downloadable version of the full interview. This was my first, so there would have been many lessons to learn from. Lesson learned, record your own interview!
