Review

When I read Priscilla’s review of Once Bad Intentions on Just Read It, it filled me with glee. Provided a warm sensation guiding me to a happy place. Not because I feel a sense of excitement and appreciation for having my words on a page read with a critical lens, although that’s cool. What can I say, I’m human.

It’s the way JustReadIt interprets the story.

Placing the story’s heart at its core, blogger, Priscilla Osuwu, captures the soul of the story. The intricate family dynamics, and means in which it navigates violence and trauma, while remaining centred on love and accountability. The love interest, Tyrone, and way in which unconditional love provides a basis for our protagonist, Stephanie Johnson, to be vulnerable and grow. The love letter to 1990s, Black culture, and south-London.
