Pempamsie Overview

Pempamsie is a Well-being & Culture store chain with branches across London. They offer a range of Natural hair and skincare products as well as Natural herbal supplements, crystals, and books that promote a healthier lifestyle. Complimented by a chain of Caribbean vegan restaurants, Eat of Eden, Pempamsie provides a solid destination for natural essentials and remedies, plus tasty Caribbean vegan food. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable about herbal remedies, always willing to offer their help and support.

Pempamsie’s Founder & CEO, Basil Palmer, was born in south-London of Jamaica parentage. He built Pempamsie with the aim of reaching back into his African heritage to build a sustainable business future rooted in the UK with global expansion plans. The name Pempamsie derives from one of 98 Adinkra symbols, which represent concepts, proverbs, and aphorisms originating from the Gyaman people of Ghana and Cote d’lvoire. The Pempamsie symbol itself means: Sew in readiness. It symbolises connection through strength, unity and preparation.

Pempamsie stores are currently located in Lewisham, Brixton, Stockwell, Mitcham, Harlesdon, Walthamstow, and online.

Book Stockist

As an avid customer of Pempamsie for many years, I have leveraged their staff’s intel on hair products for afro hair, crystals for energy balance, herbal remedies and supplements for stomach detoxes and to cleanse the digestive track, books for the soul and cards personal and relatable for black friends and family members. And now I get to connect with their customer base and provide relatable life experiences, celebrate Jamaican culture and share journeys grounded in resilience through animated storytelling.

Pempamsie are now stockist for Once Bad Intentions, available in all of their stores UK-wide.
